Dear 13 years old Asigo-Ng’uono,
As you turn thirteen today (Wow! You are now officially a teenager!), I am just as excited as you to enter your second phase of life.
I just want you to know that for the past 12 years being my first baby girl, seeing you grow every day has been the best thing that ever happened to me. You made me embrace motherhood and helped me become the person I am today.
We have grown together, faced many challenges of life together, and been happy and sad together! Seen a lot together and comforted each other! Indeed life has been a roller coaster and I am grateful for that because I am seeing a resilient, hardworking, principled, intelligent and beautiful young woman blooming up!
Notably, the teen phase comes with mixed episodes. This world is so tough! It won’t spare you! You will have your own share of challenges. You will face real problems on a daily basis during the most awkward growth stages of your life until you clock 18 years old and beyond. During this time, you will be exposed to some overwhelming external and internal struggles, hormonal changes, puberty, social and parental forces, work and school pressure etc…
Amidst all these, let me once again remind you that I will always be there for you through thick and thin. I maybe a monster to you sometimes, your best friend sometimes and your worst enemy. All these dynamic feelings are allowed and won’t change the fact that I am your loving and caring momma and have your best interest at my heart.
What lies out there for you? The world is full of so much that is beyond our control. As a momma, I set limits to protect you and pray that God Almighty to guide and shine upon you. Most times, I am scared for you. However, I am learning to let go and see you blossom to be the person you want to be in life. I want you to create your own path, fulfil your own dream and happiness not mine. In the process of it all, you will make mistakes; some huge, others minute. Learn from them. These will sharpen you, make you a better version of yourself, help you mature with wisdom, and appreciate life more.
I promise to love you, be your best friend and support you all through according to my best ability as long as I am alive because I am your momma!
Dear World, I know you can be tough! Kindly be lenient to my Princess!
May you grow to be a phenomenal woman!
Happy birthday sweet pie! You are the greatest source of our joy, pride and wonder!
I am not home to celebrate with you Princess, but know that you are always in my heart and in spirit!
Yours, Loving Momma!
